We are seeking an energetic individual to join our Maintenance team as a Journeyperson Electrician. This is a permanent position.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Journeyman Electrician inspects and repairs electrical systems, components and equipment to identify defects and to ensure compliance with codes. Duties also include routine and preventative maintenance, trouble shooting, installations and critical repair.

The Utility Electrician will work cooperatively with all members of the electrical department as well as all other staff to ensure production goals are met and strive to reduce downtime.

The Journeyman Utility Electrician can expect to perform various tasks including the following non-inclusive responsibilities:

• Installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of different electrical systems, faulty equipment and apparatus
• Installation of structural steel, installation of buried utilities.
• Responsible for Inspection and testing of high voltage electrical equipment installed. Ensure test and maintenance reports are maintained and always completed.
• Lead installation and facilitate planning of ground grids, assembly of power system equipment, cabling and wiring.

Work Conditions and Hours of Work:

Electricians are regularly exposed to a fast-paced grain handling environment, including moving equipment and machinery, dusty conditions, hot, humid, windy, and cold conditions. Candidate must be willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, in confined spaces, in precarious places.

While this position is normally scheduled Mon-Fri 8 hrs./day, you will be required to cover for shift electricians as necessary. Flexibility and availability for working OT and changing shifts is required and this position can expect fluctuations in work schedules. This includes switching to 12 hr. shifts including nights and/or weekends as necessary to meet the demands of the operation.

Qualifications:

• Must hold a valid Journeyman Electrician ticket
• Industrial electrical experience highly recommended and a definite asset
• Experience in industrial control instrumentation with working knowledge of PLC systems is preferred.
• Able to trouble shoot and repair automated packaging and production equipment.
• Previous experience in Food processing/ Grain Handling environment is considered an asset.
• Familiar with and able to safely comply with the Canadian/Saskatchewan Electrical Code and other local safety codes, policies and procedures.
• Able to read and interpret facility blueprints and equipment technical manuals
• Mechanical aptitude is an asset.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel are highly recommended.
