The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Civil Earthworks Foreman to oversee and coordinate early civil construction activities, including mass excavation, grading/drainage and undergrounds. The successful candidate will lead a team of heavy equipment operators and ground crews on a live plant site.

This position is based in Fort Saskatchewan. Shift is Monday to Friday, 10 hour days. There is no LOA or camp for this position.

Compensation/Benefits

  • Can hire as a direct employee or as a *Direct Service Provider/Sub Contractor.
  • Competitive salary. Negotiable, based on experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate construction activities on-site to ensure project specifications and timelines are followed.
  • Provide guidance and support to crews to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate with the team efficiently through daily toolbox meetings.
  • Take direction, report to and collaborate with the Superintendent.
  • Forecast labour, equipment and material requirements to complete allocated tasks for overall project planning.
  • Track and report daily labour and equipment hours, crew activities and progress.
  • Execute work in line with federal, provincial and client and company quality standards, codes and safety regulations.

Education/Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of civil earthworks experience with 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in operating a range of heavy equipment.
  • Must have industrial experience
  • Must have knowledge of mass excavation, grading, drainage and undergrounds.
  • Must have the following tickets: Ground Disturbance Level 2 (GD2), H2S Alive,WHMIS, CSTS-2020. Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) and First Aid tickets are considered assets
  • Must be able to read and understand drawings and specifications.
  • Good computer skills are considered an asset. Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar. We are a Google based company.
  • A demonstrated background in team leadership with a focus on worksite safety.
  • Highly effective in problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with various stakeholders.
  • A natural leader and mentor that isn't afraid to get on the tools when needed to train and lead by example.
