The Position

We are seeking a Contingency Management (CM) Coordinator to join our team. Speedy Goals is an evidenced-based, Vancouver Coastal Health guided, Contingency Management Program for people who use stimulants in qathet. It is a structured 12-week program for cohorts of up to 12 participants that is co-facilitated by the CM Coordinator and Peer Facilitator. The CM Coordinator oversees all aspects of the program, including supervision of support workers and/or volunteers. This position is for a seasoned support worker with supervisory experience who will work alongside people with lived experience of daily stimulant use. The candidate, above all else, must fundamentally value genuine inclusivity and believe that we, as a community, are ethically accountable for the health and wellness of all who live here.

Overview

  • Hours: 35 hours/week
  • Wages: $26.05 - $28.80, on a 5-step wage grid

Key Tasks and Competencies

  • Plan and facilitate 12 weekly groups per cohort for 4 cohorts per year
  • Plan and facilitate 6 biweekly Alumni groups per cohort for 4 cohorts per year
  • Act as the responsible person in charge for emergencies and crisis situations
  • Complete and maintain all documentation regarding the program
  • Attend and participate in meetings
  • Provide input into policy and procedure development, budgeting processes, program evaluation, change management, and other issues
  • Ensures reporting to funders and external evaluators is complete and submitted on time
  • Assists CMSW to meet the needs of the program through coaching and hands-on management
  • Ensuring contingency management cohort members have supports they require to attend
  • Consistently updating evidence-based knowledge from reputable, evidence-driven sources (VCH, BCCSU, BCCDC)
  • Ensure clients receive regular, accurate communication about program, services and opportunities
  • Participate in cross-site coordinator meetings to ensure site and programming overlap is accounted for ethically
  • Bi-weekly timesheets and other HR duties related to supervising a team of peer facilitators in current context of Lift Community Services and crises of homelessness, poverty and toxic drug supply

Skills and Abilities

  • Past lived experience of substance use is a bonafide requirement of this position
  • A strong working knowledge of learning styles and group dynamics related to people who use drugs, particularly stimulants
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to plan work independently and adhere to planning and timelines
  • Passion for group facilitation and learning together with people who experience persistent and multiple barriers to inclusion
  • Possession of or desire to learn critical debrief skills for people who use substances
  • Ability to consistently upgrade knowledge and learn from VCH educators to facilitate healthy and respectful group dynamics and discussion
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and overcome barriers specific to rural and remote settings
  • Relationship building with community partners is essential
  • Strong working knowledge of harm reduction, stimulant use, naloxone intervention and recovery models that are inclusive
  • Specialized knowledge relating to Contingency Management, Toxic Drug Supply Public Health Emergency, Overdose response
  • Experience with Motivational Interviewing training is an asset
  • Ability to design promotional materials and feedback surveys
  • Communications skills such as writing and reporting
  • Ability to coach and build capacity in persons who experience marginalization
  • Ability to respond appropriately to crisis and problem solve in moments of pressure
