Based in Williams Lake and reporting directly to the Silviculture Superintendent, the Senior Silviculture Supervisor will support the Superintendent to ensure all operational and strategic silviculture activities meet safety, environmental, and legal requirements and are conducted in a safe and cost-effective manner.

The Senior Silviculture Supervisor will spend 50% of the time completing operational silviculture activities and 50% supporting the Silviculture Superintendent in leading several key initiatives and strategic functions.

Key Initiatives and Strategic functions include:
•Provide day-to-day guidance, leadership, advice, mentorship, and supervision to the Silviculture team in the Williams Lake office, including temporary and summer staff; elevated issues to the Silviculture Superintendent as required.
• Leadership on major projects such as silviculture accrual, nursery and sowing coordination, seed procurement, corporate reporting, and supporting other major projects such as Access Management planning.
• Ensure effective peer review of professional silviculture work is being completed.
• Facilitate information transfer between the Silviculture and other Woods departments.
• Holiday coverage for the Silviculture Superintendent.
• Regional Silviculture committee support and participation, as directed.
• Led and identified additional strategic priorities and functions to support the broader South Cariboo Woodlands team as identified by the Silviculture Superintendent.

Operational Responsibilities include:
• Responsibility for all aspects of reforestation in a designated area. This includes developing plans and prescriptions, contract administration, contractor supervision, data collection, reporting, and budget preparation.
• Additional responsibilities include monitoring contractor compliance with safe operating procedures, SFI certifications, and health and safety programs.
• Program coordination with other members of the Silviculture team and Woods Department.

You have:

• A forestry, natural resources, or relevant degree or diploma.
• A Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) designation with the Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proven organizational skills, and a willingness to learn and undertake new challenges.
• >7 years of relevant silviculture experience.
• Proficiency with Silviculture software, including CENGEA (LRM), ArcMap, Plant Wizard, SNAP, RESULTS, iPads and MS Office, will be considered an asset.

• Competitive base salary of $$90,000 - $107,500/year with annual bonus opportunity
