Job Summary

Our Client's Engineering Services department is looking for a talented and dedicated Project Lead Engineer (PLE) to join the team in Kelowna. This role is crucial for driving the execution of capital sustainment and other engineering projects. As the PLE, you will be the main point of contact between Project Management (PMO), Operations (Ops), and various engineering disciplines, ensuring smooth coordination and communication. You will oversee the detailed design process, manage

documentation, and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency to meet project milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Resource Management: Oversee and allocate engineering resources to support project scopes, and communicate additional resource needs to managers and supervisors.
  • Schedule and Scope Management: Ensure timely completion of work, respond to changes in scope or schedule, and consult with stakeholders to establish required deliverables.
  • Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with design, development, and quality assurance teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Project Tracking: Organize and monitor cross-disciplinary projects, ensuring alignment and progress of technical communication and deliverables.
  • Meeting Facilitation: Lead project engineering meetings to determine resource availability and estimated completion dates.
  • Deadline Management: Establish reasonable due dates for engineering deliverables based on project scope, lead times, and available resources.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track progress against established due dates and communicate with the project team about impending deadlines.
  • Communication: Maintain constant communication with EORs, PMO, and department supervisors about changes impacting project deliverables or timelines.
  • Documentation Management: Ensure timely supply of shop and field documentation to Engineering and review project records to ensure completion and storage of all required forms and documentation.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of technical education and project management experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within an engineering, construction, or similar operating environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects.
  • PMP, CAPM, MPM, PPM, CPMP, or similar project management certification is preferred.
  • Preference for candidates who are registered professionals (EITs, P.L. Eng., P.Eng., or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices.

Skills

  • Strong coordination and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, Asana, Jira).
  • Knowledge of engineering processes and documentation control.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Knowledge of safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
