  • You are not required to report into a Mosaic office; however, there is significant travel to client locations in Canada required for this role. (~50%)
  • Geographic flexibility: This position is open to candidates residing anywhere within the province of Alberta, Canada.

Position Overview

The Senior Consultant will oversee the consulting team (Consultant, Lead Consultant, Production Services) in the design and development of deliverables for solutions to meet Mosaic client needs. This individual will lead large teams and work closely with subject matter experts, consulting team members, and other stakeholders to design curriculum and develop learning objectives, storyboards, content, assessments, and interactive elements. The Senior Consultant will facilitate group and individual discussions to provide coaching on performance and instructional design methodologies. This individual will coordinate with multiple stakeholders to consult on best practices and coordinate editorial and quality control efforts. The Senior Consultant may function as an individual contributor, Project Manager, subject matter expert, or Strategic Advisor based on skill set, timing, and client and project needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Senior Consultant role are as follows:

General

  • Develop performance support materials, instructor-led training (ILT) and web-based training (WBT) solutions for small to large audiences. Topics can encompass business processes, utility and energy concepts, or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software products.
  • Conduct analysis and develop training strategies and learning solution plans.
  • Review deliverables created by the consulting team, including process overview, step-by- step instructions, simulations, activities, assessments, job aids, quick reference guides, or supplemental training documents.
  • Partner with Sr. Manager Client Delivery, Project Manager, Project Controller to ensure project is on-time, on-budget, in scope.
  • Provide timely status reports to internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Meet project deadlines through effective team management and proactively escalate any issues or problem areas that may compromise deadlines.
  • May identify or develop new business opportunities.
  • May be consulted for development of statement of work and/or basis of estimate for new work and participate in RFP response development.
  • Attain billable hours requirements.

Curriculum Development

  • In partnership with Project Manager and project leads, define or follow curriculum design direction from project leads and assists with design and analysis activities as needed.
  • Oversee the end-to-end curriculum design and development process (task analysis, course outlines, storyboards and authoring for WBT, revisions based on feedback, and assessments).

Training and Delivery

  • Coordinate ILT delivery as needed, including classroom instruction, e-learning, workshops, and software demonstrations.
  • Apply and coach team on instructional design methodologies and delivery modalities, including blended learning, hands-on learning, and role-based training to maximize student engagement.
  • Attend pilot sessions to hand off training materials to training delivery team.
  • Assist in coordination and setup of physical or virtual learning environments.
  • Develop scenarios for computer-based practice activities and generate related data to populate the online learning environment; coordinates with IT to test, refresh, and troubleshoot the learning environment.
  • Conduct design and implementation reviews.

Leadership and Coaching

  • Lead small- and large-scale multi-discipline teams to assess client needs; designs and implements approved solutions.
  • Guide teams in meeting project standards and specifications, mentoring them in training development and consulting best practices.
  • Provide editorial peer review to ensure alignment with training best practices, editorial standards, and project guidelines and specifications.
  • Support roll-on/roll-off of project team members.
  • Respond to Consultant concerns and resolve issues.
  • Provide timely and effective coaching and performance feedback to team members and is viewed as a trusted resource by the team and client.

Consulting

  • Effectively consult with client to determine root issues and gaps in employee performance and current business processes that can be addressed through Mosaics suite of solutions.
  • Facilitate workshops or interviews with client stakeholders and subject matter experts to generate business cases.
  • Effectively build relationships with key clients and stakeholders to influence program- and project-level direction.
  • Gather, analyze, and report training effectiveness results to track program effectiveness and budget.
  • Facilitate meetings and participate in working sessions with clients; communicate best practices to the client to aid in decision-making.

Quality Assurance

  • Apply appropriate levels of edits and feedback on deliverables to ensure that ideas are clearly communicated, visually laid out well, instructionally sound, correctly formatted, and presented in an appropriate voice.
  • Develop, customize, and troubleshoot templates; develops style guides, editing checklists, and other standards for the team.
  • Coordinate efforts to format and prepare team documents for print publications
  • Evaluate usability of web content, interactive elements, content structure, and navigation of web-based courses.

To effectively respond to client and project needs, roles and responsibilities will vary and may include additional responsibilities not listed.

Skills and Experience

  • Advanced experience in training consulting or managing training projects.
  • Proven ability to independently manage small- and large-scale project teams and client relationships.
  • Experience working on project teams in a consultative environment with clients.
  • Advanced understanding and experience within the energy and utility sector or enterprise software implementations.
  • Advanced knowledge of training design, development, and delivery methodologies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills with an ability to lead and influence teams and clients.
  • Experience designing and developing a variety of training and documentation materials.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to navigate complex and ambiguous situations using advanced interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.

Working Relationships

  • Internal: Work closely with consulting team (Analyst, Consultant, Senior Consultant) to provide status updates and information regarding roadblocks, risks, and possibilities for additional opportunities.
  • External: Develops trustworthy relationships with clients and project stakeholders. Independently interacts in and effectively navigates through ambiguous and political client environments. Onsite work at clients jobsite and onsite attendance of client and team meetings required.

The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Physical Demands: While performing duties of job, employee is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Position requires extensive travel and ability to sit for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by the position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.   • Work Environment: Work environment can vary greatly depending on client and location. Reliable transportation to and from work location required. Travel will be required depending on client/project needs.
