Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager to lead the human resource related activities for Innovaseas Canadian operations.It is an in-office, hybrid role, with a requirement of working in our office in Bedford, NS multiple days per week. Reporting to the interim Head of People, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for working with the leadership in our Bedford, NS office to achieve competitive advantage through the strategic deployment of a highly committed and capable workforce including talent acquisition, employee training and development, and performance management.
This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with applicable employment laws in Canada and includes some HR support for our global operations in Chile, Norway, Germany and Australia. The Human Resources Manager will liaise with the Human Resources Generalist located in our Boston office who focuses on the US employee base.
The candidate must be adept managing multiple concurrent tasks, staying current on trends and practices in human resource management, and working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Support hiring managers in executing the talent acquisition process including recruitment, interviewing, hiring of qualified job applicants and their subsequent on-boarding in the Bedford, NS office and in locations globally.
- Analyze trends in compensation and benefits. Ensuring Innovaseas Canadian operations are offering competitive compensation and benefits programs.
- Act as a strategic advisor during annual review of benefits and pension programs.
- Contribute to the evolution of our HR programs and systems to deliver state-of-the-practice employee experience and engagement.
- Serve as a resource for managers in developing their employees and effectively managing their performance.
- Maintain compliance with relevant jurisdictional employment laws and regulations and best practices. Reviewing policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Working with management in addressing employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations.
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships with Payroll, Finance and IT, Legal and other stakeholders to drive the effective delivery of HR programs and services.
- Maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resource and talent management.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years relevant Canadian work experience in HR alongside a requirement for suitable qualifications
- Experience with Canadian employment-related law, regulations and practices
- Experience with delivering HR services and functions to a multi-jurisdictional employee base
- Experience evolving HR practices and processes to support a growing business
- Demonstrated effective organizational problem solving, planning and analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills and a high degree of self-motivation and business acumen
- Excellent communicationskills including written reports, oral presentations, and presenting to senior executives. Ability to professionally engage with staff across all business functions, and potential customers
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bamboo/HR or related HRIS talent management system
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Ability to currently work in Canada
EducationCandidates are required to have minimum of a bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
