Position Description
Title: HR Generalist
Department: Human Resources
Immediate Supervisor: Manager, Human Resources
Status: Exempt
Position Purpose: To support HR activities for the Truro site including, but not limited to, recruitment and retention, orientation, employee relations, training, and employee engagement activities.
Principle Accountabilities
- Models our IPG values centered around people: Teamwork, Integrity, Passion and Performance
- Ensure ongoing review, updating and implementation of policies and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Responsible for recruitment and selection of hourly employees.
- Support successful onboarding of new employees
- Works with HR Manager on employee engagement and satisfaction initiatives.
- Provides support to supervisors and managers on employee relations issues, performance and attendance management as well as disciplinary issues.
- Update policy and procedures including employee handbook.
- Compile HR metrics and reporting.
- Supports health and safety initiatives throughout the plant.
- Maintains employee files and HRIS system.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in in a related field.
- Experience in Human Resources in a manufacturing or industrial sector. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Completed or working towards a CHRP/CPHR designation is preferred.
- Knowledgeable about payroll and HRIS systems.
- A high degree of flexibility and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a medium size organization.
- Strong, interpersonal, coaching and influencing skills.
- Collaborative and energetic with strong customer service orientation and problem-solving capability.
- Demonstrates knowledge of applicable legislation and its applications.
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment with strong adherence to deadlines.
- A demonstrated change agent who is comfortable with ambiguity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, complemented by excellent attention to details, follow-up and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and complex situations with sound judgment and discretion.
- Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to gain trust and work through others to achieve goals
