Job Title: Project Cost Controller
Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Project Cost Controller is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on project costs to support effective cost management and decision-making. This role focuses on cost control, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance documentation to ensure accurate tracking and alignment with project objectives. Working within the Project Controls team, the Project Cost Controller plays a key role in maintaining cost efficiency, identifying risks, and supporting the successful delivery of the Eskay Creek project.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Project Cost Control & Analysis
- Support the cost control function for the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project, ensuring effective cost management.
- Analyze and report on budget plans, forecasts, and variances, tracking committed, incurred, and actual expenditures across the project.
- Assist the Cost Lead in forecasting project costs and preparing financial reports for senior management, highlighting critical trends that may impact financial performance.
Procurement & Change Management
- Review all purchase requisitions after PO creation to ensure compliance with cost coding and budget allowances.
- Support the Project Controls change management process by monitoring PO vs. budget overruns and identifying the need for additional funding.
- Extract and analyze cost and commitment reports from Pronto (ERP system) for accurate financial tracking.
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Work closely with finance and project teams to ensure three-way matching for invoice payments.
- Provide cost analysis expertise to support earned value reporting, budget reconciliations, and Estimate at Completion (EAC) calculations.
- Assist project planners and controllers in achieving project performance targets related to scheduling, financial performance, and execution.
- Ensure compliance with the financial reporting calendar, collaborating with project teams to collect and validate reporting, forecasts, and actual expenditures.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Foster a collaborative culture by working cross-functionally with Finance, Procurement, and Site Teams to align cost controls, scheduling, and project objectives.
- Develop and maintain key relationships with consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders, providing oversight on contractor/vendor invoices.
Systems & Process Optimization
- Act as the Project Controls "super-user" for the Pronto ERP system to support project-wide cost management functions.
- Utilize Prism as the primary cost control tool for all cost reporting and financial tracking.
- Continuously contribute to the improvement and development of project cost control systems and best practices.
Other Duties
- Support performance status reporting, baseline change control, risk management, and earned value management (EVM).
- Perform other relevant cost control duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate
Education / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying.
- Diploma or certification in Project Controls, Cost Engineering, or Construction Economics is an asset.
Experience / Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Project Cost Control within a project-based environment.
- Previous site-based experience in industries such as mining, construction, or oil & gas is preferred.
- Proficiency in cost management systems (e.g., Prism, EcoSys, or similar).
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and their application in cost control and project performance analysis.
- Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters
- Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed
- Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities

Work Location & Conditions
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.

Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is CA$75,000 - CA$95,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
