Role: Hardware Technician
Location: Markham, ON
Mode: Contract
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prep devices to the engineers' specifications in a timely fashion
- Follows all applicable work instructions, Best Known Method (BKM) to perform repair and FA during RMA processes.
- Regular monitoring, maintenance and assessment of platforms.
- Flashing BIOS versions, updating firmware, installing OS software.
- Perform inspection/testing of incoming RMA returns on VM/SCT/bench and ATE/SLT as needed
- Testing CPUs on multiple systems for verification
- Inventory management of all hardware and CPUs in the lab
- Handle documentation and communications with Global Logistics team regarding all incoming and outgoing shipments
- Perform data entry and preliminary data analysis
- Perform continuous improvement activities to improve efficiency & quality and reduce cost
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Education: High school diploma or BS
- Experience working with engineering labs and/or high-volume manufacturing test facilities
- Strong communication skills at both technical and executive levels, including the ability to create and discuss technical documentation and presentations
- Proficient with Microsoft standard products: Windows Operating Systems and Office applications
- Experience with computer hardware building to distinguish between system components
- Good verbal & written communication skill is a must
- Hands-on experience, analytical & systematic approach to problem solving and maintenance of test equipment
- Works independently and can interact with cross functional teams as well
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of work experience
- Good understanding of QA process & terminology
- Experience with PC hardware assembly, operation and debug
- Experience handling computer components in an ESD-safe environment
- Previous experience with Inventory Management
- Previous experience testing CPUs
- Previous experience working in an RMA team role
- Able to stand for extended periods
- Able to lift up to 25lbs
- Available for overtime/weekend work, if required (not often)
