Come Grow with Us! Forsite is looking for a Biometrician/Data Analyst with experience and demonstrated aptitude in forest inventory and growth & yield modeling and statistics. This position can be remote or ideally based out of our Salmon Arm, BC or any of our BC offices.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Biometrician will work with Forsites senior planners and analysts to help deliver forestry projects that involve biological statistics and data manipulation (sampling programs/protocols, predictions using regressions or machine learning, accuracy assessments, etc). You will use GIS tools (ArcGIS Pro), data manipulation and automation tools (Arcpy, pandas, Tableau), growth and yield tools (VDYP/TISPY/GYPSY/MIST), and statistics programs (R, SAS, Python) along with your forestry knowledge to provide focused, innovative and meaningful solutions to our clients.
Depending on the experience of the successful candidate, the potential types of projects the role will be involved in may include yield curve development, growth and yield sampling programs, carbon sampling/estimation programs, design of data collection and processing protocols, creation of innovative, data-driven forest inventories, and more.
WHO YOU ARE
A safety conscious attitude
Bachelors degree in forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field
Masters or Ph.D. in Forestry with a focus on biometrics, growth and yield modeling and statistics
Minimum 3 years of related experience in the forest sector
Demonstrated experience with provincial inventory systems (e.g. AVI, VRI, SFVI, etc.)
Proven ability in R, SAS, Python, ArcGIS/ArcPro, TASS/TIPSY, VDYP, MGM, and GYPSY, data analysis and data management, and MS Office suite of tools
Background in growth and yield in western Canada an asset
