The Role

Positions offer full-time, year-round employment.

Primary duties include:

• Support Hatchery teams with regular maintenance activities, installations, repairs, and projects primarily in Charlotte Co. New Brunswick but including occasional travel to KCS hatcheries in the Atlantic provinces.
• Troubleshoot problems and provide recommendations for problem resolution.
• Assist Hatchery teams with fish handling equipment.
• Understand and support the operation of incoming water, effluent, monitoring systems, generators, oxygen, emergency procedures.
• On call - respond to emergency maintenance repair requests as required – including weekends and evenings.
• Follow proper biosecurity, safety and other company policies and procedures.
• Manage inventory of consumables and replacement parts and prioritize work orders.
• Coordinate and work with external contractors, work with internal engineers and project planners.
• Liaise with other project and maintenance groups as appropriate.
• Develop and update maintenance SOPs.
• Obtain quotes from vendors as needed.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player who possesses excellent problem-solving skills with a strong mechanical aptitude. Periodic travel to interprovincial freshwater facilities and the ability to be on-call is a requirement. Preference will be given to applicants who have practical background of aquaculture systems, preventative maintenance, and inventory monitoring. Hands-on ability and certification with Electrical, PLC, or Mechanical Engineering are considered assets.
