Job Summary:

Ainsworth is currently seeking an Electromechanical Engineer to join our growing team in Toronto- GTA. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Electromechanical Services, the Electromechanical Engineer is responsible for leading and managing engineering projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency in motor sales, maintenance, repair and shop operations. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills and leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manage motor repair and maintenance projects from inception to completion.
  • Oversees the operation of a large prime power customer in the GTA, safely, efficiently, and routine maintenance of these generators.
  • Oversees technical designs, specifications and documentation of pricing requests from our nuclear clients. Provide quotations and execute through to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technicians, clients and suppliers.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis and troubleshoot motor or generator issues on large or critical items.
  • Stay current with industry trends, codes, and regulations to ensure compliance and innovation.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Prepare and deliver project reports and presentations to stakeholders.
  • Attends scheduled Operations Team meetings to review business practices, financial updates, health and safety updates, and company updates.
  • Manage subcontractor workflow regarding installation practices to comply with company guidelines and contractor management program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) is necessary.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in motor systems, industrial equipment, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of motor repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance practices.
  • Experience and knowledge of large generator operation and servicing.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Able to be responsible for the operation and monitoring of off-site facility equipment.
  • Working experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint software.
  • Strong Leadership skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and engineering software.
  • Display strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks.
