Join Our Team as a Junior Driver Trainer at SOUTHLAND!

Are you a skilled School Bus Driver with at least two years of experience? We have an exciting opportunity for you!

SOUTHLAND is looking for passionate and experienced drivers to take on the rewarding role of Junior Driver Trainer. This position allows you to continue driving while also delivering in-house training and evaluations for both new and experienced drivers.

You'll maintain part-time hours during the school year and transition to full-time during the summer. As a Driver Trainer, you'll play a key role in shaping the next generation of drivers, ensuring the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and excellence.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a School Bus Driver with a valid Class 2S License
  • Proficiency with computers and tablets
  • Strong knowledge of the Traffic Safety Act and emergency procedures
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • A team player who can also work independently when required

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct training sessions and evaluations for new and experienced drivers
  • Ride along with new drivers to assess their skills and provide constructive feedback
  • Perform regular evaluations to ensure safety and performance standards are consistently met
  • Opportunity to support training at other locations as needed
  • Provide assistance during large charter events
  • Uphold and model the highest safety standards in both driving and instruction
  • Act as a mentor, providing guidance and support to help drivers succeed in their roles
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and safety regulations through ongoing professional development

Working Conditions:

  • During the school year: Part-time hours typically between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, with extended hours available on non-school days
  • During the summer: Full-time hours (based on operational needs)
