We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as a Volunteer and Program Coordinator in order to fill an upcoming vacancy. This individual is responsible for the recruitment, screening, selection, training, motivation, and evaluation of volunteers. A key component of this position is the promotion of volunteering opportunities to the public and maintaining a positive image of the organization within the community.

This position is also responsible for coordinating and facilitating LEOs volunteer programs. Tasks include conducting client intake assessments, scheduling events, data entry, and reconciling. They will contribute to the ongoing development of LEOs programs and will work to ensure client needs are being met and clients are socially engaged.

Primary Duties

  • Recruitment, screening, selection, training, scheduling of volunteers
  • Promote opportunities of volunteering to the public
  • Conduct training for volunteers
  • Plan the annual volunteer appreciation event
  • Coordinate and maintain volunteer programs
  • Coordinate all volunteer events
  • Responsible for the continuing development of the volunteer program
  • Respond to requests regarding volunteerism
  • Develop and execute a volunteer recruitment and retention strategy
  • Establish and conduct screening interviews with potential volunteers
  • Provide basic orientation and on-going support to all volunteers
  • Complete client intake assessments and yearly reassessments
  • Organize, schedule, and facilitate program events
  • Coordinate meals on wheels orders (receive orders, communicate with vendors, and organize delivery)
  • Match volunteers with friendly visiting clients based on established criteria
  • Develop and strengthen a positive working relationships with clients, volunteers, employees, and community partners
  • Actively participate in internal and external committees and community functions

Documentation

  • Document accurately on each client file according to LEOs Documentation Policy
  • Ensure accurate statistical entries in platform
  • Enter and reconcile volunteer log sheets and program entries
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department to ensure accurate and timely billing

Qualifications and Conditions of Employment

  • Submission of a clean Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screen
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent volunteer coordination experience preferred
  • Experience with seniors and individuals with disabilities, as well as with diverse populations
  • Valid drivers licence, clean drivers abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Provide medical certificate stating immunizations are up to date
  • First Aid and CPR certification is highly recommended
  • Must have intermediate experience in MS office programs
  • Ability to develop recruitment and selection procedures
  • Proven ability to supervise, motivate, train and monitor the performance of a team of volunteers

Working Conditions

  • Travel throughout Lambton County will be required
  • Public speaking is required
  • Overtime or after hours may be required when needed
  • Involves regular use of standard office environment with exposure to irritants such as background noise, telephone sounds, and equipment noise
  • Position is customer service focused and interacts with a variety of clients
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computers
  • Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting (up to 30lbs)
