Queen Margaret's School recognizes the importance of high-quality after-school care and is seeking vibrant and enthusiastic candidates to join our After School Activity Club team! If you love working with kids aged 5-9 and enjoy planning and supervising fun and engaging activities, this could be the perfect role for you.
About the Role:
As a member of our After School Activity Club team, you will:
- Support, promote, and assist with on-site and off-site activities for students.
- Participate in planned physical sports or events/activities.
- Keep track of students' whereabouts.
- Plan and schedule engaging after-school activities that support children's social and emotional development.
- Form effective relationships with parents and provide feedback on children's activities and day.
- Manage classroom environments effectively.
- Work unsupervised and act as the designated person in charge.
Our Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience/training working with school-age children and create a warm, compassionate environment for a variety of ages.
- Have strong planning/preparation skills to create engaging, age-appropriate activities (telling stories, crafts, singing songs, etc.).
- Be flexible to the changing needs of the children and programs.
- Have problem-solving, multitasking, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Provide safety, arranging rooms/furniture/outdoor play for activities and rest periods appropriately.
- Be adaptable to fluctuating numbers of students as parents pick up.
- Be able to work under own initiative and act as a designated person in charge when required.
Qualifications:
- Must be 19 or older (due to licensing regulations).
- Familiarity with child development and needs.
- Experience working with large groups of students.
- A cheerful disposition and a passion for engaging students in their development and growth.
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Ability to manage emergent situations and take decisive action.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals and positive results.
- Adaptability to changing situations.
- Understanding of appropriate boundaries.
- Ability to form effective working relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Ability to plan and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working with children.
- Emergency First Aid/Childcare Emergency First Aid or higher.
- Class 4 Driver's License and clean driver's abstract is an asset.
Working Conditions:
- 3:00 to 5:00 pm when school is in session (i.e., not Christmas Break, Spring Break, or planned Pro-D days).

- A Criminal Record Check initiated by Queen Margaret's School is required.
