About CAREERS: CAREERS: The Next Generation is a unique, charitable foundation that helps youth discover in-demand careers through work-integrated learning internships. We partner with government, industry, educators, parents, and students to introduce youth to rewarding careers and develop the skilled workers of the future.

Position Overview: As the Research Specialist, you will be responsible for researching and supporting the development of programs that provide internship opportunities to high school students and young adults. You will work closely with various industries, education systems, and government departments to collect relevant information to develop and deliver workforce relevant programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Research Specialist

Assist in identifying best practices and future workforce needs based on national reports, trends, economic conditions, research findings, and government legislative or policy developments.

Assist the development of business cases for internship program expansion projects.

Coordinate with management in preparing project proposals and contractual documents.

Assist with the design and development of internship programs and processes aligned with both client needs and corporate goals.

Lead in the identification and securing of pilot program participants (schools, youth, and companies).

Help coordinate, monitor, evaluate, and report on pilot programs and projects.

Write education materials and resources for use as programs are piloted and rolled out.

Ensure that projects are completed within allotted budget and timelines.

Identify program knowledge gaps and improvement opportunities for both clients and internal team members.

Lead the training, and implementation of consistent new programming roll outs to the Operations team.

Work cross-functionally with other teams to accomplish strategic goals.

Stakeholder Engagement

Maintain contact with business leaders and subject matter experts to explore opportunities and share programming details.

Create participation surveys, prepare summaries, and identify needs for immediate actions.

Provide exceptional client support to ensure program success.

Collaborate with the Operations department to provide coaching on work integrated learning best practices for participating companies.

Coordinate and implement events.

Provide excellent customer service with the knowledge that business/industry clients, students, instructors, and other areas of the college are our customers.

Maintain contact with post-secondary and secondary institutions to remain knowledgeable of initiative aligned with internship initiatives.

Administration

Assist in developing department plans, budgets, and schedules.

Maintain and update the customer relations management system.

Implement and occasionally update client satisfaction measures.

Promote the use of technology and technology tools to support continued efficiency and improvement in processes.

Perform duties related to the proper operation, administration, coordination, and management of records, projects, contracts, and grants.

Other

Design and complete special projects.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Demonstrated a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.

Experienced in building and maintaining client relationships.

Clear and professional oral communication skills.

Process development experience.

Skilled at gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data.

Competent at facilitating group discussions.

Proficiency in prioritizing, planning, and completing work.

Strong ability to write concise, well organized documents.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) with experience in SharePoint.

Education & Experience

A Bachelors degree in education (career and technology studies), business administration, management, human resources, career counselling, or workforce training may be of benefit. A Journey ticket along with a diploma will also be considered.

Work integrated learning opportunities available in Alberta secondary and post-secondary education.

Instructional design and survey methods.

Marketing and closing skills.

Applying technology to improve client services an asset.

A combination of education and experience will be considered.
