ABOUT THE ROLE
Amsted Automotive (Means Transform Products), London, Ontario, is looking for a Material Handler (Afternoons) capable of operating all production and related equipment in the department, consistently meeting quality, safety, and production expectations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Responsible to ensure smooth flow of raw components and dunnage necessary to run including but not limited to flow formers, lathes, presses, WIP areas
- Responsible to ensure product is maintained in a neat, organized manner in designated areas and contain required Move Tickets or Suspect Tags ensuring production team members complete move tickets correctly
- Responsible to complete reporting documentation as required including, but not limited to, Hold Cage Inventory Sheet
- May be required to print and place bar code labels on all finished goods prior to storing; remove all old bar-coding labels from bins
- Empty swarf bins/scrap bins into compactor and cycle
- Pitchfork swarf to decrease conveyor jams
- Responsible to carry out general housekeeping and 5S check sheet tasks as scheduled, required, or appropriate (ie. Clean up of oil, coolant, water, lubricant)
- Complete work assignments with accuracy, sense of urgency, and in a safe manner in accordance with established standards, and all applicable Regulations / Legislation
- Participate in company programs as required or requested including but not limited to 5S, Elimination of Waste, communication meetings, training, etc.
- Create, update, and maintain a training matrix for all TFA – London team member training
- Promote the company's operational visions, values, and goals
- Conduct all work activities in a manner that is supportive of team effort
- Participation in training or other team activities to support ongoing continuous improvement
- Adherence to all rules and regulations as may be amended from time to time
- Participate in the company's health, safety, environmental, and operational programs
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, or his/her designate.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- High School or equivalent with minimum 2 years related experience in manufacturing environment (automotive preferred)
- Current forklift license preferred
- Multi-tasking, fast paced environment
- Strong organizational and time managements skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Ability to achieve results / targets through others who are not direct reports
- Ability to adapt and maintain performance in changing work environment
- Effective interpersonal / communication skills required
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to effectively manage conflict, foster good team and inter-department relations
- Reliable transportation needed
- Available for 3pm to 11pm shifts Monday to Friday

WHAT ELSE YOU'LL NEED TO KNOW
- Work may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, stooping, and performing repetitive motion tasks
- Excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Must be willing and able to work any shift as may be required
- Manufacturing environment working with machines, parts, and equipment
- Wear personal protective equipment as prescribed
- Usage of a computer and other productivity machinery such as a SAP hand held scanner and control panels
