As an Apprentice Heavy Duty Bus and Coach Mechanic, you'll play a key role in maintaining and repairing our diverse fleet while gaining hands-on experience. From diesel engines to electric drivetrains, you'll help ensure our buses operate at their best as you build a strong foundation for your career.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Assisting with Diesel Engine Diagnostics and Repairs: Support troubleshooting and repairs on diesel engines under the guidance of experienced mechanics. Learn to perform minor repairs and assist in overhauls.
- Drive Line Maintenance Support: Help remove, repair, and replace drive line components like transmissions, drive shafts, and differentials.
- Engine and Body Accessory Repairs: Assist in maintaining engine and body accessories, such as heating and air conditioning systems, alternators, generators, voltage regulators, and suspension components.
- Braking System Inspection Support: Shadow experienced team members to inspect and repair braking systems, ensuring fleet safety.
- Learning Electrical Systems Troubleshooting: Gain hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing electrical systems and components to ensure efficient operations.
- Seating, Steering, and Glass Installation Assistance: Help install and repair seating, steering components, and glass, contributing to passenger comfort and functionality.
- Electric Bus Maintenance Exposure: Work alongside skilled mechanics to maintain and inspect electric buses, including high-voltage systems, battery packs, and electric drivetrains.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Willingness to Learn: Enthusiasm for developing skills in diesel engines, driveline components, and electrical systems. Interest in electric vehicle maintenance is a bonus.
- Basic Tool Familiarity: Knowledge of or eagerness to learn diagnostic devices, A/C equipment, and shop tools like hydraulic presses, pullers, and brake lathes.
- Certification in Progress: Must be actively pursuing the 310T Truck and Coach Technician certification program.
- Own Hand Tools: You are required to provide your own hand tools; specialty tools related to high-voltage systems will be provided.
- Theoretical Knowledge: Good understanding of transit bus electrical, mechanical, air, hydraulic, and HVAC systems. Familiarity with CAN/J1939 communication protocols, 608 certification, ASE transit certifications, and CDL licensing is highly valued.
