Recognized throughout Southwestern Ontario as a leader in childrens (birth-18 years) mental health, Vanier Childrens Mental Wellness provides innovative treatment programs and services for children, experiencing emotional and behavioural challenges. As a registered charity and not-for-profit agency, Vanier has been in operation for over 54 years and is funded by the Ontario government. Vanier Children's Mental Wellness mission is to improve the lives of infants, children, and their families through the provision of mental health services based on clinical excellence, collaboration, partnerships, and system leadership. Appointed by the Ontario Government as Lead Agency for Child/Youth Mental Health (CYMH) System Management in London-Middlesex (2014), Vanier is also accountable for community-wide Child/Youth Mental Health System Planning (MCYS: Moving on Mental Health).

Position Summary:

The Data Analyst has a key role in ensuring evaluation processes that enhance evidence-based decision-making. The Data Analyst reports to the Lead Agency Supervisor and works to assists the Quality and Strategy team in planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining integrated databases, as well as managing data from other agencies within the London-Middlesex service area. The Data Analyst provides user-support related to Vanier databases for staff and managers within Vanier, and the Data Analyst consults with other agencies within the London-Middlesex service area regarding data management. The Data Analyst generates and interprets data reports as needed by stakeholders and trains stakeholders to access and interpret data. The Data Analyst not only extracts data from existing databases but also supports the creation of both ongoing quality improvement tools and project-specific surveys. The Data Analyst has the primary role in data visualization and statistical analysis.

Job Duties:

  • Support and responsible for creation of several management reports including monthly, quarterly, and annual data to inform system decisions
  • Supports performance measurement by assisting the Lead Agency Supervisor in planning and designing integrated databases capable of generating performance indicators that draw on all aspects of Vanier operations (including client, human resources, and financial data)
  • Responsible for completing data presentations within Vanier, and across Core Service Providers.
  • Responsible for pulling monthly data to support board and Core Service Leadership council requests.
  • Assists in planning, designing, and updating databases for service data from multiple agencies in the London-Middlesex service area.
  • Codes database metadata (e.g., triggers, stored procedures, functions, and data views) in Structured Query Language (SQL) and creates parameterized data reports for use by end users in Visual Studio
  • Supports Vanier IT staff in maintaining agency databases using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Supports Vanier staff and managers in the use of specialized software (e.g., case management software)
  • Manages complex datasets, including developing and implementing systems related to the collection, monitoring, and auditing of data to ensure data integrity and facilitate analyses and reporting.
  • Supporting data across Core Service Providers in the CYMH sector within London-Middlesex.

Education/Training/Experience:

  • Experience with EMHWare software preferred
  • Post-secondary education in computer science, statistics, or related field
  • Masters level (preferred)
  • SQL programming and database administration
  • Lean Six Sigma and Project experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with statistical analysis software, preferred
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Advanced skills in SQL coding (Microsoft SQL)
  • Advanced skills in data visualization and statistical analysis
  • One to two years of experience in data analysis field, preferred
  • Familiarity with the childrens mental health sector, preferred
  • Working knowledge of performance measurement, program evaluation, and research methods
  • Current drivers license preferred
  • Police Check is required

Hours of work:

  • 35 hours a week.
  • Required flexibility for occasional evening and Saturday work as required.
  • Hybrid opportunities available, approval required.

License/Certification:

  • Driving License (preferred) and access to a reliable vehicle.
