Hours: Rotating shifts based on programming including; daytime, evenings and Saturday's.
Location: 22 Mary Walk, Elliot Lake Ontario

Purpose and About this Position
Under the direction of the Enji Maawinjidiyaang Start Up Coordinator the Enji Maawinjidiyaang Wasa Nabin Worker is responsible for providing urban indigenous youth ages 13-18; who are at risk, the support, tools and healthy activities that build upon and foster their inherent ability to make healthy choices. This program has been designed based on a fundamental principle: to improve the quality of life through the delivery of culturally appropriate programming and community member-based services in the areas of advocacy, justice, social services and the educational system.
The Enji Maawinjidiyaang Wasa Nabin Worker will provide comprehensive activities and programming that include social supports, health and physical development, education, institutional interventions, and individual / family support.
This position supports in the initial development and set up of Enji maawinjidiyaang as well as promotion, coordination and delivery of workshops and community engagement.
The Enji Maawinjidiyaang Wasa Nabin Workerwill assist Urban Indigenous families and community members in accessing Enji Maawinjidiyaang via membership enrollment and participation in group and individual services, workshops and programs.
Requirements:
- It is preferred for the applicant to be a registered band member of the First Nations serviced by Niigaaniin Services, including Batchewana First Nation, Garden River First Nation, Thessalon First Nation, Mississauga First Nation, Serpent River First Nation, Sagamok Anishnawbek, Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, and Wahnapitae First Nation,
- Diploma or degree in Social Services and/or equivalent experience,
- Minimum of two (2) years direct services with youth, parents, family groups,
- Ability to work flexible hours,
- Must have a clear Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Peoples Sector Check applicable to the responsibilities of this position,
- First Aid/CPR certified or open to training for certification, and
- Class G Drivers license and access to a vehicle.
Knowledge;
- Knowledge and understanding of Anishnaabemowin, culture and traditions of Indigenous people of the Robinson Huron Treaty,
- Knowledgeable about the culture and the significant characteristics of the social structure and relevant human services needs of Anishnawbe,
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures to ensure that youth are supervised and safe at all times.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communication skills; excellent interviewing and counselling skills,
- All candidates must be able to work with a diverse population,
- Ability to coordinate programs and services,
- Ability to facilitate workshops and programming while meeting target outcomes,
- Excellent case and file management skills, stress management and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality,
- Familiar with community services networks and knowledge the Niigaaniin Services would be an asset,
- Ability to work in a performance-based system with a proven track record of meeting targets and outcomes is essential,
- Requires minimum supervision, able to work independently and maintains a supportive and cooperative environment with colleagues and the communities,
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook,
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills,
- Superior oral and written communication skills,
- Excellent stress management skills,
- Efficient time management skills with adherence to timelines and deadline, and multitask in a fast-paced environment,
- Ability to learn new skills and be flexible to adapt to changing workload, and
- Able to work independently and maintains a supportive and cooperative environment with colleagues and the communities.
