Summary

The Director of Finance will be a key strategic leader responsible for overseeing the companys financial health, optimizing capital management, and driving financial strategy to support business growth. Reporting to the executive leadership team, this role will manage cash flow, risk, debt, and capital structure while ensuring compliance with financial covenants and investment strategies. Additionally, the Director of Finance will play a critical role in strategic planning, including mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, and investment analysis. This position will lead and mentor the Accounting & Finance team, ensuring strong financial controls, accurate forecasting, and data-driven decision-making.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies for debt financing, repayment, and capital allocation to maintain an optimal capital structure.
  • Analyze financial statements, cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide decision-making and pinpoint areas for improvement.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, including currency, credit, interest rate, and operational risks.
  • Ensure adherence to financial covenants, maintain strong relationships with banks and financial institutions, and negotiate favorable terms for financing.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes to support business growth and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Conduct due diligence, financial modeling, and valuation analysis to support M&A opportunities and investment decisions.
  • Manage the approval and processing of revenue, expenditures, budgets, ledger maintenance, and data entry.
  • Manage investor relations, ensuring transparency and effective communication with stakeholders, lenders, and external partners.
  • Establish and maintain financial policies, internal controls, and best practices to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee and mentor the Accounting & Finance team, fostering a high-performance team and driving continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to align financial strategies with corporate goals and drive data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field required
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in a senior financial leadership role.
  • Proven track record of managing financial reporting, budgeting, and audits.
  • Experience working in both Canadian and U.S. financial environments, including familiarity with U.S. accounting standards and regulations
  • Experience in multi-location or multi-business unit environments is an asset.
  • Strong analytical strategic planning abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of Canadian and U.S financial regulations and accounting standards.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
