As the Plant Operation Manager, you will implement manufacturing policies and programs which guide the plant in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation. You will also position, direct, and coordinate these activities so that approved products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.

Job Duties:

  • Define and recommend manufacturing objectives; develop specific short and long-range plans and programs together with supporting budget requests.
  • Establish, approve, and monitor manufacturing and related subordinate departmental budgets.
  • Directs the manufacture of products at the optimized cost consistent with established specifications for quality and quantity.
  • Have a shop floor presence and provide operational leadership for the organization.
  • Coaches and mentors direct reports, provides training when required
  • Direct preparation of cost control reports, cost estimates, manpower and facilities requirements forecasts.
  • Implement operational KPI's and scorecards that provide critical information allowing for continuous operations' improvement.
  • Formulate and install standard manufacturing practices based on comparative studies of methods, costs and production figures.
  • Work towards ensuring that orders are delivered on-time and complete.
  • Devises methods, policies, and procedures to ensure Manufacturing objectives are attained.
  • Monitors quality reports, and ensures, with procurement, that suppliers are meeting company quality standards.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices and makes recommendations when pertinent
  • Foster innovation and productivity through effective communication.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to align operations with organizational objectives.
  • Attends required meetings and participates when necessary.
  • Champions safety KPI's and initiatives, coordinates with the leadership team to implement programs and policies.
  • Responsible for keeping up-to-date on equipment changes, additions, and modifications.
  • Comply with all applicable OHSA, ESA and other provincial regulatory laws, as well as company safety policies

  • Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or Senior Leadership team

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Business or other related discipline
  • 5-10 years successfully leading a manufacturing organization
  • Steel fabrication & welding knowledge
  • Tooling background is an asset
  • Supervisory and staff development experience
  • Ability to implement lean manufacturing practices
  • Maintain a satisfactory attendance record
  • Must maintain the confidentiality of employee, department, and company business.
  • Must utilize a laptop or PC routinely.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport or travel credentials.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must stoop, bend, reach, walk; perform repetitive motions using hands to grasp, push, pull or do fine manipulations
  • Required to stand for prolonged periods
  • The ability to lift up to 50lbs. is required.
  • May perform duties requiring the employee to intermittently bend and twist

Compensation Range: $100,000 - $155,000
