West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Our High-Level Division in Alberta is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Superintendent.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position requires a great deal of maintenance experience with strong safety, supervisory and leadership skills.

You'll Do:

  • Exemplify a strong commitment to safety through actions and leadership
  • Provide hands-on technical expertise on the mill floor to increase and maintain plant operations
  • Provide support to the General Manager, Production Superintendents, and Supervisors to ensure objectives in safety, quality, production and cost are being met
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on team building and motivational skills along with an ability to collaborate and build good working relationships across multiple departments and leadership levels
  • Advance and support the training for maintenance and operational teams to continuously improve their knowledge and skills to maintain an optimal operational focus
  • Operating and leading within a culture of reliability using preventative and predictive centered maintenance to drive continuous improvement and ownership of the plant's uptime while utilizing advanced maintenance systems involving root cause and gap analysis
  • Meeting production and uptime goals while making safety a business priority.
  • Develop, implement and maintain maintenance team schedules and detailed maintenance planning schedules that drive continuous improvement and support all elements of plant mechanical/electrical functions
  • Ensure department alignment with asset management policy
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the annual maintenance budget
  • Utilize common PC applications to perform administrative duties (CMMS, MS Office, payroll systems, etc.)
  • Lead recruitment, development and retention of maintenance supervisors and their tradespeople

What you need to be successful:

  • Engineering degree or Journeyman trade certificate; any other post-secondary education may be considered
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in supervising maintenance in an industrial setting
  • Knowledge and experience in effective reliability programs are essential

Would be considered an asset:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Demonstrated expertise in process optimization, troubleshooting equipment, and lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience in the forestry or manufacturing industry is considered an asset

Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; leadership, vision, dedication & communication
  • Knowledge of maintenance management systems, preventative maintenance programs, and reliability engineering
  • Good computer skills with the use of Microsoft Office suite as well as effective oral, written, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Personal Commitment to safety

  • The salary range for this position may vary depending on experience, education, and location.
