Summary:
The Piping Design Lead is responsible for driving the coordination and delivery of all piping design deliverables
Key Responsibilities• Lead and coordinate piping design and drafting activities across projects.
• Provide input on schedules, man hour estimates and scope of work documents.
• Monitor project deliverables to ensure they are delivered on time and on budget.
• Review drawings and designs for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Offer guidance, direction, and training to the design team on standards and procedures.
• Advanced in AutoCAD and 3D modeling software (Hexagon Cadworx, Hexagon S3D,
Autodesk Plant3D) for generation of 3D piping models.
• Prepare design drawings for various disciplines including but not limited to Process,
Mechanical & Piping.
• Collaborate closely with the Piping Design Supervisor to optimize resource planning.
• Maintain transparent communication regarding task status, design changes, risk
management, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Support and contribute to the development of global workshare.
• Lead internal and external 30/60/90 model reviews.
• Coordination of electronic filing system, folder structure and file management.
• Develop mutually beneficial relationships with team members and project personnel.
Key Skills and Abilities• Strong leadership ability to run a high-performing team.
• Proficiency in CAD Software (Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Plant 3D, Hexagon Cadworx,
Hexagon S3D).
• In depth knowledge of piping codes and standards such as ASME B31.3.
• Extensive experience in piping design layouts, optimizing cost, efficiency, functionality,
safety and follows industry best practices.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical information clearly and concisely to
project teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve design issues
effectively.
• Ability to provide effective guidance and mentorship to piping design personnel.
• Strong ability to utilize Navisworks for reviewing 3D models.
Education & Qualifications• Engineering Design and Drafting Diploma (Piping) or Equivalent.
• 10+ years' of EPCM experience
