The Opportunity
As the Assistant Camp Director at YMCA Camp Glenburn, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality programs and ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of participants and staff. In this position, you will assist with daily operations, support staff development, oversee camper programs, and help foster a safe, inclusive, and vibrant community for all. This role is a live-on-site position from May to September and offers an incredible opportunity to build lifelong skills, relationships, and memories.
Responsibilities
- Assist in delivering quality camp programs for campers, CITs (Counselors-in-Training), volunteers, and staff.
- Support the development, training, and implementation of camp-wide emergency procedures.
- Lead Junior Counseling staff by setting goals, developing skills, providing performance feedback, and submitting evaluations.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of staff training programs.
- Oversee camp office operations, including organizing summer camp registrations and assigning staff to cabins and camper groups.
- Ensure proper care, safety, storage, and inventory of camp equipment and supplies.
- Act as a positive role model for campers, CITs, and staff, promoting respect, understanding, and compassion in every interaction.
- Support the Camp Director in other camp-related tasks and responsibilities as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ongoing or completed Bachelors Degree, Community College diploma, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Senior leadership experience in a residential camp setting.
- Strong organizational skills and a reliable work ethic.
- Exceptional teamwork and leadership abilities to collaborate with the senior leadership team.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- A commitment to living on-site at Camp Glenburn from May to September.
- Employment is contingent on clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Social Development Clearance Check.
