Wage range: $27.15 to $34.19 per hour
Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day
Primary location: CASA Centre

About the Role
The Preschool Day Program provides specialized early childhood mental health care in a small classroom setting. The family and care team work together to support the child's social, emotional, academic and physical development. The program works to strengthen the family's ability to support their child by promoting parent confidence.
The Children's Day Program provides group, family and individual therapy while also providing education in a small classroom setting. Children are encouraged to strengthen their existing abilities and develop new skills. Areas of focus include social skills, academic functioning and emotional and sensory awareness. Children attend the program daily during the school year.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant will:
- Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist (OT).
- Provide individual and group treatment to patients in the areas of fine motor, gross motor, sensory, self-care and related skills.
- Complete screens and informal assessments under the direction of the supervising OT (e.g., fine and gross motor observation and screening).
- Participate in group facilitation alongside the Occupational Therapist.
- Provide direct support to the programs as needed to cover breaks and when required to ensure child regulation and engagement within the classroom environment.
- Perform a variety of administrative and organizational tasks such as filing, photocopying, laminating and scheduling appointments.
- Collaborate with and assist the Occupational Therapist in developing programming, materials and activities.
Qualifications
- Therapy assistant diploma with proficiency in physical and occupational therapy, or physical therapist and occupational therapist assistant diploma.
- Experience working with preschool and school-age children.
- Experience working in mental health is an asset.
- Experience working in collaborative care models and/or multi-disciplinary teams is preferred.
- Group facilitation skills are an asset.

- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
