As we scale up, we're looking for an Human Resources Specialist to manage the day to day functions of the Human Resources department including recruitment, training, payroll, benefits, safety, and employee relations. The HR Specialist will provide input and support to the Sr. HR Manager in the general operations of the Human Resources department.


Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Support hiring managers and administer the recruitment process to include supporting job description creation, job postings, applicant screening, scheduling interviews, interviewing and presenting offers.
  • Keep job descriptions current
  • Conduct 1 month check-ins for all new employees
  • Create, conduct and continually refresh New Hire Orientation
  • Ensure effective exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations

Payroll, Benefits and Compensation

  • Administer benefit programs and work with suppliers in the United States and Canada
  • Support the administration of performance management programs for employees to include coaching, manager trainings, review meetings, and scheduling as needed for the process
  • Maintain accurate records and compile statistical reports relating to personnel data, e.g. hires, transfers, absenteeism rates, and performance appraisals
  • Administer employee raises, promotions and exits.
  • Assist the Sr. HR Manager with a variety of issues, re: legislative, special assignment, and research as requested, etc.
  • Advise and assist Team Leaders and Supervisors on interpretation and administration of personnel policies and programs
  • Provide general information and assistance for all employees regarding company programs and policies.
  • Advise managers on company policy regarding equal opportunity employment, various forms of harassment, and any recommended changes

Policies and Procedures

  • Develop and provide recommendations for policies and processes
  • Assist with training initiatives
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned

Health and Safety

  • Coordinate the function, act as champion, assess the effectiveness and training needs, and act as a resource to all Joint Health & Safety Committees.
  • Implement, monitor, audit, and improve BinSentrys Health and Safety programs in accordance with regulatory requirements, guidelines, standards and best practices.
  • Stay current with legislation changes.
  • Conduct and formalize job hazard and physical demands analysis for BinSentry positions.
  • Develop competency profiles and training plans for each position in BinSentry and build a training database with an associated budget. Implement, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate the effectiveness of various Occupational Health and Safety training sessions.
  • Track worker injury and incident data and report any identified trends, and to applicable Managers and Supervisors.

Work Conditions

  • Travel may be required on occasion, but will not be a regular part of this job
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Overtime as required
  • Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required


Education and Experience:

  • A University or College Diploma, preferably in business specializing in Human Resources, or equivalent
  • A CHRL designation an asset
  • Three to five years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist/Specialist
