Who we are looking for
You have:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electronics, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Experience:
- 5+ years in project management within advanced manufacturing (medical devices, laboratory diagnostics, robotics, or related industries preferred).
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and FDA QSR (21 CFR Part 820) is a strong asset.
- Technical Skills:
- experience with and understanding of a wide range of manufacturing processes including PCB electronics assembly, injection molding, CNC machining, die casting, metal fabrication, painting & decorating, and sterilization.
- Expertise in interpreting 2D drawings, engineering requirements, and DFX principles.
- Proficiency in data analysis, 8D root cause analysis, and PPAP systems.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects using tools like Agile and traditional methodologies.
- Communication: Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to deliver professional and proactive updates on technical, project, and financial aspects.
- Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software such as Smartsheet, JIRA, Miro.
Responsibilities
As a Manufacturing Project Engineer you will be responsible for:
- Leading Manufacturing Launch Projects: Managing project scope, budget, cashflow, timelines, and quality to meet client expectations.
- Fostering Early Collaboration: Partnering with design and manufacturing teams to integrate DFX principles (DFM, DFA, DFT) during product development.
- Coordinating with Suppliers:
- Evaluating supplier feasibility and providing DFM feedback.
- Cultivating strong, long-term supplier relationships and tracking performance using scorecards.
- Planning Manufacturing Projects: Building and maintaining detailed project timelines, milestones, and resource plans using project management tools. Create and maintain bill of materials (BOM) throughout product launch.
- Ensuring Manufacturing Readiness: Overseeing creation of PFMEAs, control plans, quality assurance, GD&T analysis, PFMEA, and process controls to ensure seamless production launches.
- Ensuring Product Quality: Implementing PPAP and IQ/OQ/PQ systems, managing 8D root cause analysis, and coordinating Engineering Change and Non-Conformance activities.
- Communicating Effectively: Generating clear, timely project reports, documentation, and updates for internal teams and clients.
- Driving Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities to optimize processes, tools, and collaboration for greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Sourcing Strategically: Researching and sourcing supplier partners and components to meet the specific demands of our client's industry, technology, and business situation, weighing factors like margins, quality, costs, and lead times.
- Maintaining Excellence in Delivery: Ensuring product packaging and shipment meet Inertias high standards.

Primary Work Location: Hybrid based out of our34 Kern Road, Unit 3, Toronto, Ontario, Canada office. Must have the ability to commute to the office to support project and team needs...Must be legally permitted to work in Canada. International travel may be required.
Annual Salary: We are considering candidates with a variety of experience levels. We recognize its a competitive market, salary will be commensurate with knowledge, skills, experience, and local market conditions.
