About the Program

The Toronto Blue Jays are looking for recent graduates or early-career professionals who are interested in learning from industry-leading professionals and exploring what it means to be a part of Canadas only Major League Baseball team.

Selected individuals will become part of a diverse cohort with access to department-specific training, social activities and learning opportunities. Each participant will also be assigned a cross-departmental mentor from within the organization to guide them throughout the program and the unique chance to present to theToronto Blue JaysLeadership Team.

During this year-long program, candidates will gain invaluable real-world exposure to the sports industry, immersing themselves in theToronto Blue Jaysworld right here atthe Rogers Centre.

Overview
The Photography Assistant is responsible for supporting the Team Photographer in all aspects of photo content for the Toronto Blue Jays. Duties include maintaining the current and historic archive, live editing during home and road games, coverage of activations and events throughout the season and assisting in various other photography related tasks.

This role will support the departmental duties of the Blue Jays Organization through photographic support. The Photography Assistant will be crucial in supporting the teams business functions including community, corporate partnerships, ticketing, marketing, events, and social media executions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit, caption, tag, archive,and organize all images and filesforthe archive to ensure system is consistent and up to date.
  • Assistance with internal and external photography requests.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments across the organization to fulfil photographic needs, including in-game entertainment, food and beverage and lifestyle photography etc.
  • Photograph Blue Jays events (baseball and non-baseball related) including community, sponsorship and other events as determined by the Team Photographer.
  • Ensure photography is consistent in terms of quality, style, brand expression, and tone across platforms to contribute to the overall brand identity of the Toronto Blue Jays.
  • Other essential functions include supporting the marketing departments, as well as providing support to the graphics, social media and in-game entertainment teams.

Qualifications:

  • Recent graduates (within the last 3 years) and early-career professionals.
  • Understanding of photography, composition, lighting, workflow and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, PhotoShelter and Greenfly.
  • Understanding of network, FTP and remote cameras preferred, but not necessary.
  • Knowledge of Sony mirrorless digital cameras preferred, but not necessary.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Must possess a professional demeanor and ability to build a trusting relationship.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and work well with co-workers and supervisors in a team environment.
  • Must be able and willing to work non-traditional hours including weekends, evenings (required to work Blue Jays home games and events when needed).
  • Carry loads of camera gear up to 50lbs at a time while walking or standing.
  • Assume other duties determined by the Team Photographer.
  • Experience with digital asset management, including meta-data tagging and management, preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where you willbe requiredto problem-solve, follow direction,and produce content in real-time under tight deadlines.

  • Social media accounts will be considered a secondary source to highlight work.
