OVERVIEW

Kick-start your career with Vertex as a Junior Environmental Technician! This entry-level role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on field experience in upstream oil and gas methane emissions testing across Western Canada. Under the guidance of experienced team members and the Operations Manager, you'll support field operations, ensuring data collection and testing is completed in accordance to regulatory requirements. This role is perfect for those who enjoy working outdoors, have a positive attitude, and are eager to learn while spending time away from home on various assignments.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

We're looking for enthusiastic individuals with a strong work ethic who are ready to grow in the environmental field. While experience is not required, candidates with a post-secondary diploma in a related field, such as Engineering Technology or Environmental Sciences, will stand out. Key qualities we're seeking include:

  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • A willingness to learn and follow safety protocols
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Willingness to travel and work 12-hour shifts, often away from home
  • A basic understanding of environmental regulations is a plus but not required

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Junior Environmental Technician, you will:

  • Assist in conducting Surface Casing Vent flow assessments and Gas Migration testing
  • Support senior team members in ensuring project tasks are completed on time
  • Adhere to safety and regulatory standards during field operations
  • Collaborate with the team to meet project goals and client needs
  • Gain exposure to real-world environmental testing procedures and regulatory compliance

Positions located out of Calgary, Grande Prairie, Sherwood Park and Lloydminster, Alberta
