Our manufacturing client in Windsor-Essex, ON is looking for the EHS Coordinator for their plant.
Shift - Day
Pay - $65-$75k/year
- Develop, implement, and enforce workplace safety policies, programs, and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate and oversee safety training programs for employees, including hazard communication, equipment operation, and emergency response protocols.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations, including waste management, water usage, and air quality standards.
- Oversee proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain environmental sustainability initiatives to reduce the company's environmental footprint.
- Implement health programs, including ergonomic assessments and injury prevention initiatives, to promote employee well-being.
- Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, determine root causes, and implement preventive measures.
- Maintain records and reports on injuries, illnesses, and safety performance metrics.
- Develop and update emergency response plans, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and first aid training.
- Act as the primary contact for EHS-related emergencies and coordinate with local authorities as necessary.
- Ensure availability and functionality of safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, alarms, and first aid kits.
- Stay up-to-date with EHS legislation and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Prepare and submit required EHS reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with management to set safety goals and develop strategies to achieve them.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-5 years of EHS experience, preferably in the food manufacturing or related industry.
- Certifications: OSHA certification, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent (preferred).
- Knowledge: Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards.
- Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
