Coordinator
The Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council is comprised of the five member Nations and is responsible for providing guidance and support to the individual member First Nations in developing and achieving success in the management and administration of their own programs with the intent of developing self-reliance.
The Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council consists of the member Nations of Loon River First Nation #476, Lubicon Lake Band #453, Peerless Trout First Nation #478, Whitefish Lake First Nation #459 and Woodland Cree First Nation #474. It was formed in 1995 to facilitate joint action by the member Nations on matters of mutual concern.
Job Description:
The Pre-Employment Support Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting individuals from all member Nations in their journey towards employment and independence. The coordinator will assess Income Assistance clients needs, identify barriers to employment and assist clients in obtaining and maintaining long-term meaningful employment. This position requires a proactive and compassionate approach to empower clients, helping them achieve their personal and professional goals.
Responsibilities:
Client Assessment and Support:
- Receive referral from First Nation Social Worker
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients' skills, interests, and barriers to employment
- Determine eligibility for programs and services to recommend approval for FNs funding
- Develop individualized support plans in collaboration with clients, focusing on removing obstacles to employment and promoting independence.
- Provide one-on-one coaching and guidance to clients, helping them navigate their employment journey.
- Coordinate access to external assessments; phycologist, educational etc.
- Coordinate access to internal programs and services; NNADAP, ISETP etc.
- Analyse information, interpret and apply policy in order to refer individuals to appropriate program and services
Program Development:
- Design and implement tailored pre-employment programs and workshops in partnership with educational institutions and professional organizations.
- Collaborate with training providers to develop customized training sessions that address the specific needs of clients, such as resume writing, interview preparation, and job-specific skills.
- Participate in Interagency meetings
- Participate in Nations committees and initiatives when asked
Partnership Building:
- Establish and maintain relationships with local educational institutions, training organizations, and employers to create pathways to employment for clients.
- Coordinate with member Nations to ensure programs align with communities vision, mission, needs and priorities.
- Consult and liaise with community partners
- Facilitate a role to support and influence community partners concerning attraction & retention strategies to address labour market needs and skills shortages through Employer Connections, Symposiums, Job Fairs etc.
Case Management:
- Track and document client progress on hard copy and 360 database files, maintaining accurate records of assessments, support plans, and outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with individuals to revise work plans
- Provide ongoing follow-up and support to ensure clients are progressing towards their employment goals.
- Consult/case conference with Income Support, ISETP, PSE and Economic Development Departments
- Refer clients to suitable employment and liaise with employers to offer transitional supports
- Provide immediate crisis intervention providing referrals, support and guidance
- Ensure reporting deadlines are met
- Ensure fie documentation reflects provincial and federal privacy policies and ensure adequate security measure are in place
Community Engagement:
- Organize and facilitate community workshops and information sessions to raise awareness about available support, educational, financial, labour market information and employment opportunities.
- Act as a liaison between clients, community resources, and potential employers.
- Assist individuals to access self-directed Employment Assistance Service Centre (EAS)
- Assist individuals and provide workshops to prepare resumes and cover letters.

Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in social work, human services, education, or a related field or previous experience in employment support, career counselling, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by Indigenous communities in accessing employment opportunities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of organization and time management.
- Willingness to travel to all member Nations as required.
- Must have a valid class 5 license with a clean drivers abstract
Conditions of Employment:
RCMP/Police Criminal Record Check submitted prior to commencement of employment. Proof of professional designation and/or educational requirements.
Candidates must possess valid drivers license with access to a vehicle and willingness, capability, and flexibility in working in and travelling to KTC First Nation communities.
