As our new Crew Leader you will be responsible for planning and execution, leadership and mentoring, organization and equipment care, safety and quality standards, and project reporting.
If you were working for us, here are some of the things you would have done last week:
- Manage the execution of dock service work, planning labour requirements, equipment requirements and material deliveries and timing to ensure completion of job(s) within deadlines
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the day-to-day work activities of dock service crew of 2 to 5 employees
- Meet with subcontractors and supervise quality, efficiency, and deadlines
- Operate various tools and equipment, including: chainsaw winch, drills, floating devices, boat, etc.
- Read and interpret layout diagrams, technical drawings, and specifications to delegate/complete work activities
- Perform as a service technician, installing dock systems and performing service work, along with crew in a variety of weather/water conditions
- Manage safety, quality and productivity of work at sites and/or shop/yard
- Participate in management of crew personnel by:
- Performing onboarding of new staff
- Complete quarterly performance appraisals on personnel under your care
- Refine, implement, and measure divisional best practices and performance metrics
- Conduct on-site orientations with new employees and employees in new positions, which cover all company health and safety policies, practices, and procedures
- Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE standards
- Complete and submit all required paperwork or electronic logs on a daily basis, including: daily site meeting logs, crew daily forms (material/labour planning 4@4), equipment daily inspection forms, attendance tracking, time and materials billing summaries, requests for time off, etc.

The Details
This is a full-time, seasonal job, working at job sites across the Bruce Peninsula, from Tobermory to Lions Head, Wiarton, Port Elgin, Sauble Beach, Georgian Bluffs, Meaford and Markdale. Outside of the Dock Service season, there are opportunities to join our Snow department.
We recognize that our ideal candidate may come from outside the area, and so relocation assistance is available. - You're prepared to work in waves, wind, cold and deep water (dry-suits provided!)
- Youre prepared to work on difficult shoreline access, steep embankments
- Ability to use a smartphone for communication and reporting
- Accurately record crew hours by task, and materials used daily
- Valid class AR drivers license and clean record
