This is a full time, in-office position. Our office is located at 220 Cranbrook Drive, Hamilton ON.
Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for workforce planning for the agency which encompasses WSIB Case Management, Non-Occupational Disability Management, administering the Attendance Management Program and full cycle recruitment for all positions following the Collective Agreement. This includes sourcing qualified candidates, building a robust reserve for current and future positions, establishing community partnerships, and executing targeted sourcing strategies. This position is an advisor to the operational management teams in matters of workforce planning, labour market and human resources trends and practices as it pertains to recruitment and retention.
What You Will Do:
- Contribute to the implementation of Rygiel's mission, vision and strategic plans related to workforce planning for union and non-union employee groups.
- Participate in workforce planning meetings to efficiently utilize all labour resources, returning employees from leave, anticipate hiring needs and support staffing levels and advise on the ability to meet workforce demands through increases or decreases to staffing complement.
- Act as an internal subject matter expert in the area of workforce planning and provides consultation in current labour market analysis and monitors the local labour trends to predict peaks and valleys in talent pool and behaviour.
- Administer the disability management program by partnering with WSIB, insurance carrier, the manager, employee and union representation.
- Conduct return to work and progress meetings, reviews accommodations, updates medical documentation and communicates updates with WSIB, manager and/scheduling as needed.
- Make recommendations for continuous improvement to all policies, procedures and programs in HR.
- Responsible for full cycle recruitment based on current agency needs for internal lateral movement and all job openings in compliance with the collective agreement.
- Lead proactive talent searches by developing strategic internal and external partnerships, networking and creative sourcing strategies. Builds talent reserves across diverse functional areas.
- Engage new hires with check-ins during the onboarding process and reports any feedback to hiring manager and the Human Resources Manager.
- Support internal employee engagement and talent development programs including: mentorship program, cross-functional communication, Conscious Care training, Values Based, Orientation, etc.
- Shares Rygiel's policies and procedures related to talent acquisition, selection, internal transfers, on-boarding, off-boarding and exit interviews with Hiring Managers.
- Administer Rygiel's Attendance Management Program (AMP), conducting attendance meetings, liaising with manager and employee and documenting all communication within a timely period.
- Actively participate in community connections that share best practices.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a human resources generalist, in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of full-cycle high-volume recruitment experience (4-6 requisitions at any give time)
- CHRP or working towards designation would be considered an asset
- Disability Management: Working knowledge of WSIB, disability management, return to work and accommodation concepts is required. Proven experience in this area would be considered a strong asset.
- HR Compliance: Well-versed in the Employment Standards Act and other relevant regulations (OHSA, WSIA, AODA). Experience working with QAM or in the Disability Sector would be an asset.
- Time Management: Self-motivated and the ability to be flexible to meet agency needs and project deadlines.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail is required.
- Problem Solving: Ability to work through a problem with limited information and to take a problem or situation to the next steps.
- Organizational Skills: Rygiel relies on our team to be very organized and efficient in their approach to solving problems and implementing solutions.
- Must be familiar with HRIS and ATS. Experience with UKG is an asset.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
- A successful completion of a criminal records check will be required from the successful candidate.
Physical Demands
This position involves regular hours with flexibility, various physical actions of mobility are required, i.e.: driving, minimal lifting, standing, walking, reaching and bending. Moderate to maximum eye motion, wrist and digit motions. Concentration, memory and focus throughout the workday.
