Role Overview:
As the Senior Financial Controller, you will oversee all aspects of financial operations and reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Reporting to the VP of Finance, youll lead a talented accounting team, drive financial strategy, and provide key insights to support our leaderships decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Operations:
- Supervise daily, monthly and annual accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Oversee the preparation of divisional budgets, general ledger reconciliations, and financial adjustments.
- Lead the creation and review of monthly and annual financial reports.
- Strategic Financial Management:
- Develop and maintain forecasting models and financial reports for leadership review.
- Monitor cash flow, optimize cost controls, and ensure profitability across operations.
- Ensure compliance with ASPE, GAAP, and all relevant financial regulations.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Provide mentorship and direction to the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and growth.
- Train staff in best practices and company procedures to enhance performance and career progression.
- Audit & Risk Management:
- Act as the primary liaison for internal and external audits.
- Prepare audit documentation and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation (preferred) with a bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA is an asset.
- 57 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory or Controller role.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, compliance, and risk management.
- Expertise in ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Prior experience in the construction industry or a multi-entity environment is highly valued.
- Proven leadership skills with a collaborative and team-focused mindset.
