Job Summary

FDI Services Inc. is currently seeking a 3rd or 4th-year Millwright Apprentice for our City of Edmonton Waste Management Centre Facility in Edmonton, AB. The successful candidates will be responsible for safely executing Millwright duties in a facilities maintenance setting.

Responsibilities

  • Safety conscious worker who meaningfully participates in HSE program.
  • General knowledge and understanding of stationary equipment. Specifically, conveyors, material handling and sizing equipment.
  • Performs preventative and breakdown maintenance using procedures, diagrams/schematic, drawings, and service manuals to diagnose, repair or replace defective parts as necessary.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to prioritize tasks and make improvements to maintenance processes.
  • Sets up and operates powered and manual rigging equipment to place components and heavy machinery and parts.
  • Understands how to fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances.
  • Operate, inspect and tests equipment to make any necessary adjustments and recommend repairs.
  • Work in a team environment taking direction from foreman and journeyperson millwrights.
  • Review work processes, receive feedback and adjust practices accordingly.
  • Must be willing to perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Committed to working safely and efficiently.
  • Basic Computer skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills required.
  • Good analytical ability and manual dexterity.
  • Successful candidates are required to have a valid Alberta driver's license and provide a 5-year clean driver's abstract.
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding work for a long duration of time.
  • Must be able to perform duties at heights.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to complete all pre-access training as identified prior to mobilization.

Trade Certification Requirements

  • Active Millwright Apprenticeship with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Authority.

Position Information

  • Located at the City of Edmonton Waste Management Facility
  • 12 hours of work per day
  • 4/4 Rotation Schedule
  • Night Shift Position with Additional Hourly Premiums
  • Full-time Permanent Position
