The Role:
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring the production line machines are operating effectively, and is responsible for operating the multi-vac packaging machine.
This role has rotating shifts (day, afternoon and night shift).

Responsibilities:
- Pre-operational set up of the machinery for daily use;
- Getting all the materials and setting up the working table, racks, trays, Packaging cartons/cases, and any other relevant items;
- Ensure labels, lot no. and dates are applied correctly on the cases/master cartons, boxes, etc.;
- Conduct basic pre-operational checks and shutdown after production;
- Check and adjust machinery controls in order to operate it safely;
- Training and overseeing the other workers working on machinery;
- Maintaining and understanding the operating procedures;
- Reporting any issue on the line to Lead hand/Supervisor and ensure prompt corrective action;
- Monitor and record downtime events on the line relating to machine;
- Assist in switch overs of the production line as per the SKU;
- Communicating with Lead hand/Production Supervisor to resolve any GMP, housekeeping or personnel issue;
- Recording the shift log and filling the batch sheets;
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner to ensure accurate record keeping for QC, ERP and daily production reports;
- Completing required quality checks and monitoring the process;
- Communicate with supervisor/lead hand when any situation occurs that affects the smooth transition of product through packaging line;
- Comply with GMP standards and maintain food safety at all given times;
- Check products for defects and to ensure compliance to company standards;
- Regular cleaning of the machine and its parts;
- Communicate ab direct the deliverables effectively with processing crew;
- Train the packaging team as and when required;
- Complete and record metal detection check;
- Ensure all stacking of cases/master cartons on the skids are done as per standard and palletize the finished products as skids configuration.
Any other Duties as assigned by the Management, Production Supervisor/Lead Hand.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or training in machinery operations is an asset;
- Previous experience operating machines in a food manufacturing environment is preferred;
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to strict quality and safety standards;
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team;
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and shifts, as required;
- Knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP, etc.) is a plus.
