The Design Director is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the design function within our home building operations. This role involves managing and mentoring a team that includes the Design Administrators, Design Coordinator, and Interior Designers. The Design Director will ensure that our design processes align with the company's overall objectives, delivering high-quality, affordable homes that meet and exceed customer expectations. The Design Director will be instrumental in fostering collaboration between Sales, Design, Estimating, and Construction teams, ensuring seamless communication and execution throughout the design and build process.

Duties and responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement the overall design strategy for multi-family home projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and market trends.
  • Lead initiatives to introduce innovative design solutions, materials, and processes that enhance product offerings and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to establish design objectives, budgets, and timelines that support the company's growth and profitability.
  1. Team Management and Development:
  • Oversee the Design Administrators, Design Coordinator, and a team of Interior Designers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment, encouraging continuous professional development and innovation within the design team.
  • Ensure the design team delivers accurate and timely documentation, selections, and communications to all stakeholders.
  1. Cross-Functional Coordination:
  • Act as a key liaison between the Design, Sales, Estimating, and Construction teams to ensure cohesive project execution and alignment with customer needs.
  • Ensure clear and accurate communication of design specifications and upgrades to internal teams, trade partners, and suppliers, ensuring that customer selections are met with precision.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and updates with cross-functional teams to address design-related challenges and opportunities.
  1. Customer Experience and Satisfaction:
  • Lead efforts to enhance the homeowner experience by ensuring that design offerings meet the highest standards of quality, affordability, and aesthetic appeal.
  • Monitor customer feedback and satisfaction related to design services, adjusting processes and offerings as needed to maintain and improve customer satisfaction levels.
  • Oversee the upgrade selection process, ensuring it aligns with market demands and enhances the value proposition for customers.
  1. Process Improvement and Quality Assurance:
  • Continuously evaluate and refine design processes, tools, and standards to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the design department to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Please note that the Logel Homes offices will be relocating to the Mount Royal University Area in Fall 2024

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelors degree in architecture, Interior Design, or a related field; advanced degree or certification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in design management within the residential or multi-family construction industry.
  • Proven experience in leading and developing high-performing design teams.

Skills

  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and project management skills.
  • Deep understanding of current design trends, materials, and construction methods.
  • Ability to balance creativity with practical execution, ensuring designs are both innovative and feasible.

Other

  • Must have valid Drivers License and own vehicle.

This position requires travel to the various developments/construction sites.
