Reporting to the Foreman, the Journeyman/Journeywomen's job is to fabricate, assemble and install HVAC systems for high-rise residential buildings, commercial and institutional projects.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Measure, layout, and fabricate residential HVAC duct systems when necessary
- Interpret architectural drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine how and where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products
- Add or alter condensate drainage
- Remove and replace existing sheet metal supply and return air plenums and other ductwork changes as required
- Maintain working area clean and tidy
- Work within tight deadlines
- Organize tools and materials as needed
- Listen and follow instructions
- Assemble and install air and heat ducts
- Measure and mark sheet metal according to template
- Inspect products for quality
- Cut materials using power tools or by hand
- Assemble sheet metal parts by fitting and joining them together and install ductwork and fittings to residential, commercial and industrial spaces
- Be mindful of the building code and follow instructions as required
- Set up and use rigging and hoisting equipment
- Fit and join sheet metal parts using riveting, welding, soldering and similar equipment
- Install fan coils, ductwork, HRVs, line sets from fan coils to condensing units, parkade ductwork/equipment, kitchen range, bath fan, dryer ductwork and air conditioning systems
- Work with heat pumps, ductless heat pumps, central air, air conditioners, air handlers
- Set up scaffolding to provide safe access to worksites
- Provide training to apprentices

Education and Experience
- Completion of Red Seal Certification in Sheet Metal
- Minimum 4 years of Sheet Metal and HVAC experience.
- Previous experience with Sheet Metal installation in residential, commercial, institutional, or healthcare projects.

Compensation: $48.15/h + $50/month Phone allowance. Benefits & Pension are provided through the Local 280 Union. Union membership is required upon hiring.
