Maamwesying Ontario Health Team Mental Health & Addictions Project Assistant

Location: Remote (Within Sudbury Sault Ste. Marie, ON)

Salary: Commensurate on Experience

Full-Time Contract 12 Months (with possibility of extension)

The opportunity: Maamwesying is inviting applications for a highly skilled Project Assistant to provide administrative, coordination, and project management support to the Project Management Specialist for Mental Health & Addictions to assist in meeting strategic objectives.

What you need to bring with you:

  • Minimum of one (1) year Diploma in an Office Administration field from an accredited college
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience working in an administrative assistant role within a health care environment
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks/projects, diversified workload and rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate focus groups
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft 365 software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook) and Google Drive is required
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Knowledge of and interest in the health issues affecting Indigenous people
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge of Indigenous cultural values and traditions, as well as a keen interest in Indigenous health
  • Valid drivers license with access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to travel across Northeastern Ontario as needed
  • Ability to speak Ojibway language is an asset
  • Successful criminal records check is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexible hours as required

What to expect? Given the traditional practices of Indigenous people, from time-to-time exposure to smoke from the burning of sacred medicines such as tobacco, sweet grass, sage, or cedar may occur.
