Job Description: Material Handler

Position Summary:
A Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of materials, supplies, and products within a warehouse, manufacturing facility, or other storage environment. The role involves receiving, storing, and distributing materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting the overall workflow of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Material Handling and Movement:
    • Safely load, unload, and transport materials or products using appropriate equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks).
    • Move raw materials to production and finished goods to storage or shipping areas.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Accurately record inventory levels and update systems as necessary.
    • Perform regular cycle counts and assist in inventory audits.
    • Identify and report discrepancies or damaged goods.
  • Shipping and Receiving:
    • Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders or packing lists.
    • Prepare and package outgoing shipments following company and customer requirements.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
    • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Conduct routine equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs.
  • Organization and Cleanliness:
    • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including storage areas and stockroom.
    • Ensure materials are stored in appropriate locations to optimize efficiency and safety.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all workplace safety standards and company policies.
    • Follow proper lifting techniques and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Material Handler, Warehouse Associate, or similar role.
  • Familiarity with inventory systems and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to operate forklifts or obtain certification (if not already certified).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical stamina to lift heavy items (up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs]) and stand for extended periods.
