akisqnuk First Nations (AFN) administration (Administration) is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Clerk to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role is responsible for supporting accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions, and maintaining financial records. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively.

Job Type: This role is full-time working 35 hours per week onsite, Monday to Friday.
The primary responsibilities include:
General Accounting Duties
- Monitor and support AP and AR systems and processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate AP payments in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Assist with resolving AP and AR issues, escalating as needed.
- Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger monthly.
- Maintain accounting system data, including customer, vendor, and account records.
- Participate in finance projects and perform general administrative tasks.
- Assist with the annual external audit process.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Generate and send invoices to customers.
- Monitor payments, track overdue accounts, and follow up as needed.
- Reconcile payments with invoices and update financial records.
- Prepare and analyze AR aging reports and allocate incoming payments.
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Process supplier invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare sales tax filings and maintain vendor records.
- Address inquiries from vendors and manage expense reporting.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Certificate or Diploma in accounting, business administration, or bookkeeping (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience AP or AR or similar accounting duties.
- Proficiency in accounting software (such as Sage) and MS Excel and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working with First Nations/Aboriginal/Indigenous communities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and ensure deadlines are met.
