Student – Camp Counsellor and Recreation Programs/ Events Support The Student Camp Counsellor and Recreation Program and Events Support position is a 9 week position that will be for the months of July and August.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Camp Counsellors are accountable for planning and implementing a safe, enjoyable and diverse program for camp participants aged four to 13 for six weeks during July and August.
  2. Develops and implements a safe, enjoyable and diverse program (including special events and theme days).
  3. Takes an active role is creating a camp environment that is fun by acting silly to engage children, model positive behaviour, and cares for each camper.
  4. Works cooperatively and maintains ongoing and effective communication with participants, parents, colleagues, and supervisors.
  5. Performs daily site checks and ensures that the necessary equipment and supplies are available in a safe condition, put away in their proper places and takes an active role to have a clean and safe environment.
  6. Completes and submits administrative tasks (program plans, attendance forms, etc.) within specified deadlines.
  7. Acts as a positive role model for program participants and other team members by encouraging others, always helping without being asked, and having a positive attitude.
  8. Assists in organizing and updating various programs and related projects related to Kingsville Parks and Recreation Department
  9. Implement youth friendly programming like Play in the Park, Play with Water, Bike Kingsville, or Movies at the Park.
  10. Helps with the setup, take down, and ongoing maintenance of event related items before, during and after programs and events.
  11. Supports the execution of events.
  12. Supports various committees such as Fantasy of Lights, Migration Festival and Communities in Bloom.
  13. Is a Kingsville ambassador at various events to promote the Town and assist in marketing of programs or events through handing out flyers as requested.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 16 years of age by July 1, 2025.
  • Must be in full time attendance at a Secondary School, University or Community College recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education and returning to school in September 2025.
  • Have and maintain a valid G2 or G driver's licence.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and complete tasks and assignments with minimal supervision within specified time frames.
  • Enjoy working with children and at outdoors at events
  • Ability to operate a variety of office programs and equipment efficiently and proficiently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to deal with parents, the public, staff and outside groups and agencies.
  • Be available to work all of July and August.
  • Be available to work July 1st for Canada Day
  • Be available for training in June.
  • Have CPR/First Aid or plan to obtain
  • Have or be willing to acquire the High Five course, “Principle of Healthy Child Development”

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • 40 hours per week.
  • Evening and weekend shifts are mandatory.
  • Working outside in various weather conditions.

Hourly Rate of Pay:
$18.00 per hour
