STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: 24 Selkirk Street, Ottawa, ON

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

The Akausivik Inuit Family Health Team (AIFHT) is passionate about providing culturally competent, high-quality care and support, intended to enhance the wellbeing of Inuit. We work with federal, provincial, and local health authorities to ensure we are providing a responsive and culturally appropriate model of excellence in primary care. Starting with a one-year term with a possibility for an extension.

ABOUT THE JOB:

The Akausivik Inuit Family Health Team (AIFHT) is currently looking for a Research Assistant to assist with data gathering, survey preparation and distribution, and other research related support activities within a medical setting. This position will support a Research team at AIFHT by performing administrative duties.

The Research Associate reports to the Executive Director with guidance and day to day management from the Research Project Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the conduct of research and data collection.
  • Conduct interviews with survey participants.
  • Assist in consultations with stakeholders (may include Inuit, local, regional, provincial and national).
  • Schedule meetings and take notes as assigned.
  • Maintain research files and records in both electronic and hard copy. This includes participants files and medical information with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Participate in drafting written material, summaries, or reports on assigned tasks.
  • Support and liaise with team members as directed.
  • Other related duties and activities as may be assigned.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education in Office Administration, Project Management, Health Research, or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in office administration and/or research administration.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, writing, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong computer skills including data management and internet research.
  • Knowledge of Inuit health-related challenges.
  • Ability to work in a front-facing medical office environment.
  • Ability to be organized, manage time effectively and be flexible in an active work environment.
  • Inuktitut written and verbal would be a strong asset

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May be required to work evening and weekend shifts as necessary.
