POSITION SCOPE:
Machine Operators are tasked with efficiently, effectively, and safely running one of several pieces of equipment across production lines these include fillers, labellers, and unscramblers. Machine Operators respond to equipment issues and assist in troubleshooting to eliminate unnecessary downtime in order to achieve communicated targets and quality results in a safe manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years experience with high school diploma or equivalency required or 1-2 years experience with post-secondary education or other job required certification or license required;
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/CONTACTS: some access to confidential or sensitive information; some internal interactions and/or some minor external interactions; purpose of internal/external contacts is not related to complex matters; no selling, negotiating, consulting, teaching/instructing, or advising; standard level of written and verbal communication skills required for successful job performance
PROBLEM SOLVING/JUDGMENT: position is closely monitored and decisions follow prescribed guidelines; some minor analysis required; occasionally makes recommendations or referrals; responsible for solving simple technical problems
MENTAL EFFORT: requires average levels of concentration and/or attentiveness; average duration and/or intensity of efforts; requires average amounts of thinking, watching, listening, verifying, checking numbers, creating or designing

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Analyze "out of tolerance" conditions and make adjustments as required
- Set up and maintain production assets (labeller, filler, unscrambler) to ensure safe and optimal run time, and adhering to all quality requirements.
- Monitor work target achievements and take action to resolve equipment problems to ensure maximum equipment uptime
- Communicate information to the Supervisor (i.e. production, machine and safety issues) and recommend remedial action as required
- Demonstrate job functions to coworkers as needed
- Continuously monitor product for defects and quality. Identify appropriate colors, alignment, lot codes, debris and other observable defects
- Read, understand, and accurately execute Process Instructions (PI) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Communicate with coworkers in order to solve immediate production concerns or complete production assignments
- Complete production assignments in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with department schedules.
- Adhere to GMP and GDP requirements for proper line clearance and lead daily housekeeping activities during periods of downtime and at end of shift
- Handle bulk materials and finished goods in accordance with safety and GMP requirements
- Efficiently and safely operate assigned machinery; perform simple maintenance and report deficient, unsafe or malfunctioning equipment immediately to Supervisor or Manager
- Perform other duties as assigned.
