Job Description:
We are looking for a Machinist Technician/Operatorto join our growing team and support our fast-paced, high-volume, made-to-order Sprocket Manufacturer in the beautiful South Slocan, BC. We offer a relaxed and human-centric and inclusive environment where our team members are encouraged to be themselves and learn in a safe atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate manual and CNC machining equipment proficiently, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
- Independently set up machines, load materials, and ensure optimal performance throughout machining processes.
- Read and interpret production orders, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
- Precisely measure and mark materials according to specifications. Utilize machine tools to cut, shape, and assemble steel and other metals with a high degree of accuracy.
- Perform finishing and deburring operations on machined parts to meet quality standards.
- Conduct thorough inspections of final products to ensure conformance to quality specifications.
- Assist in loading and unloading raw materials as required for machining operations.
- Participate in machinery maintenance activities when necessary to uphold operational efficiency.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within the work area in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Support shipping and receiving activities as needed to facilitate the flow of materials and products.
- Collaborate closely with team members to identify and implement process improvements for optimizing machining processes.
- Demonstrate unwavering commitment to quality, precision, and attention to detail in all tasks performed.
Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of machining principles and manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and hands-on proficiency.
- Ability to effectively follow instructions and work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and clear communication skills.
- Working knowledge of machining tools and equipment.
- Prior experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment, preferred.
- Ability to work on your feet for 10-hour shifts on a 4 on 4 off rotation.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
