Job Description:

We are looking for a Procurement and Logisitics Specialistto join our growing team and support our fast-paced, high-volume, made-to-order Sprocket Manufacturer in the beautiful South Slocan, BC. Key Responsibilities:

1. Supplier Sourcing & Negotiation

  • Research suppliers based on reputation, market presence, and financial stability, ensuring they meet requirements for quality, consistency, and capacity.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing, payment terms, and volume-based incentives to align with the budget while maintaining quality standards.
  • Ensure contracts are clear and beneficial, covering delivery schedules, warranties, penalties, and flexibility for changes or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Foster open communication and long-term partnerships with suppliers, promoting collaboration on improvements, cost savings, and innovation.
  • Track supplier performance against metrics like delivery, quality, and issue resolution, addressing gaps to align with service levels and goals.

2. Procurement & Purchase Order Management

  • Prepare purchase orders based on requirements, ensuring accuracy in quantity, specifications, and pricing, and issue in line with approval processes.
  • Ensure all orders comply with corporate policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, minimizing risk and maintaining consistency.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to confirm order details, negotiate timelines, and resolve discrepancies, ensuring agreement before finalizing orders.
  • Monitor purchase order progress with suppliers, addressing delays or issues that may affect delivery schedules.
  • Handle adjustments to orders, ensuring suppliers are updated promptly to avoid disruptions.

3. Logistics Coordination

  • Oversee coordination of domestic and international shipments, ensuring timely delivery according to customer or production needs.
  • Negotiate favorable shipping rates with carriers and freight forwarders, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining service levels.
  • Track shipments closely, maintaining communication to address delays, reroute if needed, and ensure adherence to schedules.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve shipping discrepancies, inventory shortages, or delays, minimizing disruptions to production.
  • Resolve logistical issues by identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

4. Inventory Management

  • Oversee accurate inventory tracking, using automated systems for real-time stock visibility and conducting regular audits to prevent discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory to prevent stockouts or overstocking, using data analysis to forecast demand and optimize reorder points.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure materials are stored, handled, and labeled correctly, supporting smooth manufacturing operations.
  • Work with suppliers and procurement to ensure timely restocking, reduce slow-moving inventory, and minimize excess stock.

5. ERP System Optimization

  • Assist with optimizing the use of the ERP system to enhance the efficiency of procurement processes.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and reporting within the system.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the ERP system.

6. Cost Reduction & Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and supply chain optimization.
  • Continuously assess procurement processes for areas of improvement, including vendor management and internal workflows.
  • Work cross-functionally to streamline procedures and eliminate inefficiencies.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Educational Requirements: 2-year post-secondary diploma related to Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Alternatively, a minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Experience: Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or logistics within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • A Knowledge of Procurement & Sourcing Strategies: A solid understanding of procurement processes, vendor management, cost negotiation, and sourcing strategies.
  • Logisitics and Supply Chain Knowledge: Familiarity with shipping and logistics procedures, both domestic and international, is essential.

  • ERP Systems & Technology: Proficiency in using ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required.
