OurSunshine Coastoffices are currently seeking a part-time Accounting Technician, Taxto join our tax team, splitting their time between our Sechelt and Gibsons offices, weekly. We are currently looking for a team member to work 3 days per week, 6 hours per day, with the flexibility to take on additional hours during peak seasonal periods. We can accommodate school hours (9 AM to 3 PM) if that suits the applicants needs. This position also offers flexible scheduling, with the option to work 18 hours per week, or 20 hours per week to qualify for enrollment in our group benefits package.

The successful candidate will be a passionate, ambitious individual that is excited to join a growth-oriented, entrepreneurial firm.

Hourly range is $23-$24.30/hour depending on experience.

The Role

  • Managing the annual filings process for US / T1 / Non-resident tax filers including initial contact, intake of information, following up with clients and staff to meet all due dates and filing deadlines
  • Assisting with preparation of various tax forms for both Canadian and US tax. Training will be provided
  • Preparing and deliver tax return packages to clients for signature, in person and electronically
  • Managing due dates and filing deadlines
  • Correspondence with CRA and the IRS
  • Support staff and perform various tasks as required
  • Facilitating work flow
  • Assist clients with signing their returns and payment for services
  • Greet all guests, visitors and staff in a professional and friendly manner
  • Maintaining tidy front office area, including meeting rooms
  • Respond to customer inquiries and requests
  • Opportunities for growth

What You Will Bring

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Professional and courteous manner in dealing with internal and external clients
  • Positive and friendly attitude and demeanor
  • Ability to work well in a team setting
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Previous experience in public practice or other professional services environment considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
