We are looking for a qualified and dedicated Cook to join our team at our Long-Term Care Facility in Burlington. As an integral part of our kitchen team, you will prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals for our residents, adhering to their specific dietary needs and preferences. This is a full-time, temporary position where your contributions will directly impact the lives of those we care for, ensuring they receive the best possible care through wholesome meals.
Key Responsibilities:- Meal Preparation: Cook meals according to established menus, ensuring food quality, taste, and nutritional value.
- Texture Modification: Adapt meals for residents with dysphagia (swallowing difficulties) by modifying food textures (e.g., pureed, soft).
- Food Safety & Hygiene: Ensure the kitchen adheres to food safety regulations, maintaining cleanliness and proper sanitation.
- Inventory & Ordering: Assist with food storage, ordering, and inventory management to ensure supplies are adequate.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team to accommodate residents' dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring their satisfaction and safety.
- Meal Service: Serve meals efficiently, ensuring proper portion sizes and that food is delivered at the right temperature.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and kept clean.
- Training & Development: Participate in ongoing training and orientation to stay up-to-date with health, safety, and food preparation standards.
- Culinary Program Graduate from a recognized institution.
- Certified Food Handler certification.
- Previous Long-Term Care Experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of Food Texture Modification for individuals with dysphagia.
- Valid Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSC).
- Flu Shot or prescription for Tamiflu (in case of an outbreak).
- Two-Step TB Test clearance.
- Strong culinary skills with a passion for food preparation.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow recipes precisely.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively.

- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
